“We have been using
coconut chips as a growing media for Cymbidium and
Zygopetalum orchids for 5 years, and have
completely eliminated the use of bark for our
orchids. The chips do not compete with the plant
for nitrogen since they do not break down as fast
(theylast 4 yearsor longer),and their improved
water retentionholds more fertilizer in the pot,
so less is required. We get faster growth and
larger plants in less time. In fact,
"..we have reduced the
average time to bloom for a Cymbidium seedling by
more than a year"
with a
50% increase in the number of blooms. I have not
found a better growing media for our outdoor
nursery.”

“I have been using
Saicoir in my growing mix since 1997. One major
advantage of addition of coir in my mix is the
increased shelf-life our plants in the Garden
Centers of due to the long water holding capacity
of coir. Also, rewetting is much easier and faster
compared to peat-based media”

“We have
been using SaiCoir Growbags for growing
tomatoes for the past fi ve years.
"We have saved
on fertilizer use by 30%".
SaiCoir costs less than
rockwool in terms of price, transport and
disposal, and because of the unique properties
of coir, our plants do not undergo stress when
there are irrigation
problems!”

“Since 2001, we have moved away
from rockwool and now grow all of our 12 acres of
greenhouse cucumbers on SaiCoir coconut fi ber. It
has simplified our water management strategy and
provided a more uniform growing media, leading to
faster rooting, negligible plant loss from
pythium, as well as more consistent and higher
production. SaiCoir offered us a wide variety of
water content options and slab dimensions, making
it a practical choice for all greenhouse vegetable
producers.”

“Thank you for
introducing me to the coconut husk, it is a
fabulous medium. My Cymbidiums, Paphiopedilum and
Cattleya grow much more rapidly and with a robust
root system since I have switched from using bark
a few years ago. Furthermore,
"it doesn’ t break down as
fast as bark, and that saves me a lot of time in
not having to repot my plants as
often.”

“We have been growing roses in
coir for 10 years – the past 4 years in SaiCoir
growbags, conplete with pre-cut drainage holes,
and growing Oriental Lily bulbs for 7 - 8 years in
SaiCoir. This media produces great roots on both
types of plants. It makes it easy for growing
young, sensitive rose plants. The drainage is very
good for roses and lilies, which is important,
because both can be quite sensitive to poor
drainage.I highly recommend SaiCoir fiber as
agrowing media and Sai International as a source
of this product.”

“Since we started growing
oriental lilies in SaiCoir more than 5 years
ago,the flowers are larger, and the stems are
stronger. In addition, coir can be recycled many
times, which keeps the costs down signifi
cantly.”
